My Dysfunctions: Writing Papers

I am having one of those days where writing for class is not taking shape. I have a report due in the morning on a lecture that I attended this past Thursday and my mid-term for another class due by midnight tomorrow. I don't know what is wrong with me and why I can not focus, but somehow in the next 3 or 4 hours I have got to make that happen. I am giving blogging a go of it in hopes that if I start typing something, the mind will start flowing better and I can get down to business. For now, I am lost and distracted.

Curve Balls!

I love that life throws them at you from time to time. It keeps things from getting mundane and makes you continually think. Without them, I don't think life would be any fun at all.

Take my recent battles with financial aid, I could:

a) not deal with it & drop out of school.
b) get pissed off & go on a rampage at the financial aid headquarters.
c) get mad, organize my thoughts, laugh a little bit & then take them on.
d) drink heavily and do a) or b) anyway.

So, I have chosen path c). Less messy and overall, more effective. So, hopefully everything will work out for the better in a month or so and that they as well as myself will learn valuable lessons going forward.

Lots of changes going on around me and also within me. I am directing what I can in directions that I want them to go. How manipulative of me! Well, trust me when I say that I have very little control over the things that do not directly involve me, but that is something that I am okay with at this time. People come and people go, just make the most of the time that they are around.

Spring semester has resumed. Wish me luck. With any skill, I will finish up the year with a very high 3.XX GPA, w00t!

Schooling and Such

Last week I started my classes. I am taking them all on-line and am very happy with my fast progress in my classes. It feels good to be an overachieving nerd again. I have learned that I have no desire to be an accountant, I could teach the first 2 chapters of Statistics and I think I wrote my business book. So, overall a very good feeling scholastically.

I have decided to again put a hold on alcohol consumption for many reasons, but I think it to be necessary mainly because I have become an Emotional Drunk and that just won't do. I like to be stable and in control of my emotions but recently I have been an absolute wreck after getting intoxicated. NO BUENO!

So, if you see me with a drink in hand anytime in the coming week, do me a favor and slap it out of my hand. NUFF SAID!

On to other fronts. I think I am going to force myself to survive with living in Manassas Park at least until May of next year, though I am sure that I will still have my crazy streaks, it has lent well to my studying needs. Then I will decide if I need to relocate to Fairfax, DC, or College Park based on scholastic desires.

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day Weekend and that this week has gotten off to a good start.

My LOTR-type Journey to Get My Books

Modes of transportation used: Metrobus, Metro, Cab, Omnibus & VRE.

But, after the numerous changes, I got my books for my classes that started today and I have done my assignments for Week #1 in 2 of the classes. WOOT!

So, glad to have this chapter of my life underway. Hopefully, it will be a good one.

Lovely Days of Spring

Sooooo much to do and sooooo little desire to do it. I HATE PACKING!!! I would rather sell everything & have someone come pick it all up than move everything. *sigh*

It is gorgeous outside, but I am inside packing (READ: procrastinating packing and blogging instead). Today, reflects the return of my old friend, Hope (Someone wanna cue up Sen. Obama?). I am very optimistic about my future and the possibilities that lie ahead. I don't know exactly what I want to do with my future beyond finishing my BS in Bio. I have a few ideas, but I need to sort it all out at some future date.

Shifting gears, I am working this summer as a bartender at Nissan Pavilion in their VIP Club with my good friend/new roommate and a friend of ours once he gets back from his tour of duty. Should be a great time. I love sloshing drinks together for rednecks at country shows, it reminds me of home... In a nostalgic self-loathing kinda way. Speaking of which the second show of the season is Radiohead (I know you liked the segue). Anyhow, enough of this, time to pack a few more boxes and then chill outside before work.

Something new...(short one here)

I have a new place to live. So, I won't be homeless, yet. Granted it is out in Manassas: The Park. So, anyone who has room for a "sleeping me" on the Friday nights that I am at town, I will be forever in your debt.

So to the Checklist:

1) A place to live...*check*

2) A job for the weekdays... still doing interviews, keep your fingers crossed

3) A place to take classes...*check* Starting Fall '08

4) A man to consistently cuddle... *shrug* nothing in the works, but a boy can dream :-)

Hope all is going well in the world for the rest of you and I will post some pics of the place once everything gets moved in, set up, etc.

much love,

me

Inappropriate Napping

I took a very inappropriate nap today from the hours 4 to about 9. Now, of course, I am wide awake and without a great outlet to channel my energy. I should have resisted the sleep need for a few more hours than I could have actually had a good night sleep. So, here I am and blogging for the first time in a bit.

Pending issues of where to live, where to school and where to work are still present. (Most recent update)

+Salisbury, MD: Went for an Eastern Shore visit this past Monday & Tuesday. I had a wonderful time with 3 very close friends at 2 separate intervals. I saw some fantastic artwork & ate a fantastic lasagna. Found a place to my liking, if I can get a roommate. School is not an issue. Being close to my family, however might be. They stress me out, even with a minor interaction. So, lots to think about and not enough time to analyze.

+Washington, DC: If staying here my school life becomes a bit more unpredictable; however, there may be less stress overall. I have applied for readmission to the University of Maryland, just in case. I have a job that I rather enjoy overall, even with its bits of drama. I have a few interviews this week for restaurant/bar work & one with a company that randomly came about on Saturday, when I was called by a recruiter to fill a Purchaser need that they have. We'll see, kind of intriguing because it is good money. It is also a Monday thru Friday and may allow me the possibility of affording to live here, while attending school. The flaw in that being my lack of desire to attend classes at night.

This week all of this needs to be finalized and a game plan set. I have 4 and 1/2 weeks to move & I have no place lined up, just general ideas.

I feel like I am living 2 lives

Well, not actually...but I am trying to cover all aspects of my future by applying for jobs, looking for apartments & just existing in general in 2 different locales. I long for the simplicity of having everything firmly put together and a general direction for my life. I have to get myself through school and with with as few blemishes as possible so I can get into and attend med school. People need my help, or so at least I feel this way. Ok, just a short one for tonight kids...but I will try better tomorrow :-)
